Nerve & Circulation Screen
Diabetics, especially long-standing or poorly controlled, or anyone with numbness or a past foot ulcer. (Also known as diabetic foot risk assessment.)
- Neurotouch — Vibration perception testing — detects early peripheral neuropathy
- ABI — Ankle-Brachial Index — screens for peripheral artery disease
- Pedoscan — Plantar pressure mapping — identifies ulcer risk zones on the foot
- HbA1c — Diabetes control — directly linked to complication risk
What normal doesn't rule out
whether an ulcer will definitely develop — this identifies risk factors, not a guaranteed prediction. Regular foot self-checks remain important regardless of result.
Not included
- Full nerve conduction study (see F14, for non-foot-specific symptoms)
- Wound care (if an ulcer is already present, see a podiatrist directly)
