What's included

Cardiac Calcium Score (CAC) — Directly measures coronary artery plaque burden
Visceral Fat Quantification — Measures metabolically active abdominal fat volume
QCT Bone Mineral Density — CT-based bone density, an alternative to DEXA

What normal doesn't rule out

the presence or absence of soft, non-calcified plaque — CAC measures calcified plaque specifically; a score of zero lowers but doesn't eliminate cardiac risk, especially in younger patients or strong risk-factor profiles.

Full cardiac structural assessment (ECHO/TMT — see F2)
DEXA-based bone density (see F8, a different modality)

Not the right fit if

you're under 40 with no risk factors, currently pregnant, or this would be your first cardiac risk assessment — start with F1 or F2 first, and consider this scan once baseline risk factors are established.

Preparation

Preparation: No contrast dye is used. Low-dose radiation exposure — inform our team if you've had recent CT scans or are pregnant/trying to conceive. || Collection & eligibility: This is acentre-only scan— no home service applies. Appointment-based; a brief eligibility screening is completed before booking to confirm appropriateness.

Low calcium score, normal visceral fat/bone — repeat every few years as advised

Discuss risk-factor modification with your physician

Abnormal

Elevated calcium score → cardiology referral; low bone density → see F8 for a fuller bone workup
